Malam penghargaan Billboard Music Awards 2021 (BBMAs) telah rampung diselenggarakan di Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, California, pada Minggu, 23 Mei 2021 waktu setempat.
Telah mendominasi banyak ajang penghargaan musik tahun ini, The Weeknd lagi-lagi menambah prestasi dengan memborong 10 piala Billboard dalam kesempatan kali ini.
Mulai dari penghargaan Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Radio Song Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Male Artist, Top R&B Album, Top Hot 100 Song, dan Top R&B Song. Ia juga turut memeriahkan panggung BBMAs dengan tampil membawakan hits-nya, ‘Save Your Tears’. Tak pernah membosankan, kali ini The Weeknd tampil diiringi dengan “tarian” mobil yang dramatis.
Mewakili industri musik K-Pop, BTS tahun ini meraih 4 penghargaan Billboard. Boyband asal Korea Selatan ini masih berhasil mempertahankan status mereka sebagai Top Social Artist versi Billboard untuk kelima kalinya. Tiga penghargaan lain yang dimenangkan oleh BTS di antaranya, Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, dan Top Selling Song. BTS juga menjadi salah satu pengisi acara dengan membawa lagu terbaru mereka, “Butter”.
Adapun beberapa musisi yang mendapatkan penghargaan spesial, salah satunya adalah Drake sebagai Artist of the Decade. Kemudian ada Pink dengan The Icon Award. Pink juga memberikan penampilan akrobat memukau bersama anaknya, Willow Sage Hart di panggung BBAMs, diiringi dengan lagunya, “Cover Me In Sunshine”. Rapper Amerika, Trae tha Truth juga mendapat penghargaan spesial yaitu The Change Maker Award.
Taylor Swift tak ketinggalan juga meraih penghargaan sebagai Top Female Artist, sementara Rapper Pop Smoke dinobatkan sebagai Top New Artist. Berikut daftar lengkap pemenang BBAMs 2021.
